Summary

This VP level position within the New York Client Coverage Group seeks a highly-motivated, client-oriented banker a with strong interpersonal skills and experience in corporate finance/banking to work with the team’s Senior Bankers (MDs) to cover client and prospect relationships.  Broadly, the role entails working closely alongside the Senior Banker to cover the portfolio of key clients through management of the relationship and origination of new business opportunities, as well as leading prospecting efforts to bring in new clients to the bank.  

 

Key Responsibilities

 

·         Assist senior banker in management of client portfolio, serving as collective point of contact between large multinational corporate clients and the international corporate and investment bank’s product teams. Maintain close oversight of ongoing and prospective business opportunities with each client and assist in the internal approval (business, credit, legal, etc.) and execution process.

·         Work with Senior Banker to prepare and attend client meetings (i.e. coordinate pitches, liaise with various product groups of the bank). Draft detailed account of meeting and conduct rigorous post-meeting follow up with client and product groups.

·         Develop a thorough understanding of the Credit Agricole Group’s product offering and network in order to effectively identify and communicate to clients the strengths and capabilities of the bank.

·         Cultivate in-depth knowledge of each client’s strategy, business and financial situation, as well as the industry landscape and positioning vis-à-vis peers.

·         Perform capital structure, capital allocation, and liquidity and growth projection analysis of clients and prospects with emphasis on potential ancillary opportunities for bank’s products given client’s needs.

·         Serve as primary internal contact for clients when Senior Banker is traveling.

·         Originate and manage business opportunities between clients’ international operations and the bank’s 30+ locations around the globe. An individual with a global background that will allow them to work with the senior banker to cross sell and serve the bank’s clients on a worldwide basis.

·         Cultivate and upgrade prospect list for future client development, including status of their current credit facilities.

·         Oversee/direct development of associates, analysts and interns within the team.

·         Maintain global control over revenue and return budgets for each coverage client and analyze risk/return metrics on all stand-alone transactions and client relationships. Oversee/assist in the preparation of senior management reports on internal portfolio metrics.

·         Oversee monitoring and ongoing compliance with all Know Your Customer requirements, internal monitoring requirements, portfolio reviews, budget process, etc.

Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

Academic qualification / Speciality

Required:

BA/BS degree with some accounting/finance/economics coursework

Series 79 and 63 (preferred; but will be required eventually)

Preferred: 

MBA

Required skills

 

  • Experience in an origination/sales role preferably in banking or capital markets
  • A demonstrated history of managing client relationships with successful cross-selling
  • Ability to quickly learn internal systems used for maintaining client information (i.e. risk/return calculations, client commitments, visit reporting, profitability reporting, etc.) 
  • Meticulous attention to detail; excellent communication skills; personable and a team player with ability to multi-task
  • A strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Developed oral and written presentation skills

 

 

Technical skills required

  • Previous product knowledge of Loan Syndications, Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, Interest Rate Derivatives, FX, Accounts Receivable Securitization, Trade Finance, and Cash Management.
  • Financial modelling skills
  • Experience with FactSet and Bloomberg
