Job summary

IT Applications Manager (CBTS Manager) will be based in Montreal, reporting directly to CACIB Americas CIO.  The primary responsibility will entail development and support of corporate banking and transverse systems for the users based in the US, Brazil and Canada. The Manager will supervise the BAU activities and projects in Data warehousing, Core Finance, Payments, Risk and Compliance functional areas among others.

 

The CBTS Manager leverages technical expertise and business knowledge to support a myriad of business applications across the Americas in the US, Brazil and Canada branches. 

 

It includes applications covered by two CACIB Head office IT business lines

  • CSI - Corporate & Support Functions IT: Finance, Risk, Referentials, Compliance, Transverse applications and Corporate systems (HR, Administration, IT for IT ...)
  • CBI - Corporate Banking IT: Commercial Banking (Front, Middle & Back Office), Payments, Client accounts and Client on boarding
     

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign personnel/services to the various projects, direct their activities and ensure adequate project reporting.
  • Coordination with teams on-shore/off-shore, third parties or Head Office for major projects.
  • Provide input to general architecture - including hardware, software, infrastructure, etc.
  • Consult with and advise other departments on systems and procedures.
  • Develop good relations with the business stakeholders supported by CBTS, demonstrating a strong knowledge of the financial systems and business processes in scope.
  • Actively work on continuously improving the environment and bring efficiencies to either improve quality, time to deliver or reduce cost.
  • Ensure integrity of all systems - including out of hours support (24/7), where required.
  • Supervise installation of accepted proposals and integrate the new services into existing systems in conjunction with the department managers and personnel affected; explain the new systems and interpret computer output.
  • Ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner and as per procedures defined / standards when applicable.
  • Direct research on internally developed systems or third-party customized systems.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, systems design and make recommendations on the appropriate action to be taken.
  • Ensure the following processes are in place and effectively and efficiently executed:
    • Change management
    • Incident management
    • Problem management
    • Knowledge management
    • Demand management
    • Obsolescence management
    • Operational Controls (Including COSMOS)
  • Project management
  • Operational management

Management and leadership capability:

  • Lead and manage teams, providing guidance, support and direction during critical times
  • Develop teams and processes for continuous improvements
  • Exercise the duties of a manager with respect to supervision of all personnel within the team including staffing, training and development, performance appraisals
  • Liaise with the business (Finance, Risk, Compliance, Operations, and commercial business lines) to understand and support their requirements
  • Evaluate current procedures and processes for accomplishing department objectives and continuously design and implement improved practices.

Minimal education level

Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

Level of minimal experience

Experience

  • Domain knowledge of Finance and Risk reporting, Commercial Banking and Compliance subjects in the Finance industry
  • Experience in lead role on production support, developments and system maintenance
  • Experience in development and business analysis functions
  • Experience managing a multi-discipline staff of functional and technical resources
  • Experience in outsourcing model and supervising a team onshore and offshore
  • Experience mentoring junior staff

Required skills

  • Knowledge of project management and project life cycle
  • Knowledge in areas like Payments Initiation, Message formats
  • Knowledge of vendor applications like TI+, ACBS, Oracle EBS, Oracle EPM, Business Objects, RDJ, Axiom
  • Comfortable in working with multiple teams across locations with excellent inter-personal skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English and French required (You will need to service Anglophone clients and work with Anglophone colleagues)

Technical skills required

  • Strong technical knowledge background in databases, Linux, and Windows systems
  • Experience with implementation of large information systems
  • Experience with development of technical architectures and solution designs to meet business requirements
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
  • Hands on experience on testing methodologies
  • Working knowledge of JIRA is added advantage
