Job summary

The placement student will support both the FI Financing sales desk and the FI Solutions desk. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive experience across secured funding products and rates solutions for various client segments including Asset Managers, Hedge Funds, Insurance companies, Pensions Funds, Building Societies and Commercial Banks active in the UK.

You will develop an understanding of market dynamics, regulatory environments, and how different teams interact with clients on market activities while working on specific hedging, investment, and secured funding solutions.

Key Responsibilities is as below:

1. Role Responsibilities

• Assist both teams in marketing bespoke trade ideas ranging from interest rates products (linear and/or non-linear, G10 markets) to secured funding
• Coordinate with various structuring and trading teams to support the design and delivery of suitable investment solutions for the client base
• Support shadow pricing of interest rate derivatives packages, asset swap transactions, and secured funding products
• Liaise with Relationship Managers and Senior Bankers regarding marketing opportunities and/or relevant regulatory developments

2. Daily Tasks

• Maintain awareness of economic and financial data affecting marketed products
• Assist with pricing, booking, and market updates
• Support client queries by gathering relevant information from different teams (credit, trading, back office)
• Provide pre or post trade assistance with term sheets and confirmations
• Communicate with various Middle Office and Back Office Teams

3. Control
• Support Senior Sales in ensuring clients are suitably classified under FCA rules and dealt with appropriately
• Help ensure clients and transactions are cleared by credit, legal, compliance and back office before trading
• Assist in ensuring dealing remains within set time limits and ethical execution of client transactions

4. Communication
• Network with contacts in the business to support business generation for the Global Markets Division
• Attend regular meetings with team members to review marketing strategy and exchange ideas

5. Reporting
• Assist in preparing various sales reporting documents for management
• Support the creation of monthly reports on account activity including volumes and business metrics

 

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • be studying any undergraduate degree, in the penultimate year, that allows you to do a placement year
  • be available for full 12 months
  • be available to start on 22 June 2026

Candidate criteria

Minimal education level

Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

Academic qualification / Speciality

Undergraduate University Degree (ongoing), preferably in Finance, or Economics.

Experience
